We are seeking an experienced paralegal to join our Legal Services Team and provide support to MetLife’s Legal Affairs department. The successful candidate must possess exceptional written, verbal, and organizational skills with a keen eye for attention to detail demonstrating professionalism with a focus on first-rate customer service, strong legal acumen, sound judgment, and ability to maintain a high volume of work effectively. The incumbent will have a growth mindset and agility in learning through collaboration and working autonomously. Experience working at a large law firm or corporation is preferred with proficiency in legal research and technology.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collect, draft, and analyze documents providing multifaceted information efficiently.
  • Respond to requests from clients, external examiners, government agencies, regulatory authorities and/or other parties with attorney supervision.
  • Compile, analyze and summarize information for attorney review.
  • Perform document review and assist with due diligence.
  • Assist attorneys and stakeholders in a variety of projects participating in meetings and huddles.
  • Prepare reports for management, create, and maintain files and databases.
  • Work with outside counsel to coordinate activities and review bills.
  • Point of contact for stakeholders responding to requests for quick resolution escalating complex requests to attorneys.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.


Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:

Required:

  • Advanced technical skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, E-Docs, SharePoint, Outlook, Workshare Compare, Westlaw, Lexis, NAIC website, NILS, web-based applications, and legal systems, etc.).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to perform in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple assignments.
  • Excellent organization and time management skills; strong attention to detail
  • Proficient legal research with sound knowledge of legal concepts and ability to analyze facts.
  • Maintain integrity and confidential information sensitively and discreetly.
  • Work independently with integrity and ethical professional judgment knowing when to escalate issues.
  • Passion for process analysis and continuous improvement.


Preferred:

  • Paralegal certificate or degree preferred.
  • At least 3-5 years of paralegal experience.
  • Notary Public (willingness to obtain)
