Keches Law Group, P.C. is a well-established, growing, 50+ attorney law firm with offices in Milton, Bridgewater, and Worcester, practicing in the areas of workers' compensation, personal injury, medical malpractice, and discrimination.
We are seeking a full time, experienced Legal Assistant to join our office located in Milton, MA. The ideal candidate will have prior experience in medical malpractice and knowledge of nursing home liability.
This is not a remote position and qualified candidates must be able to commute to the office on a daily basis.
Duties
Managing all telephone communications for the assigned attorney(s) by answering or directing inquiries
Producing information by transcribing, formatting, inputting, editing, retrieving, copying, and transmitting text, data, and graphics
Coordinating case preparation
Initiating telecommunications which may include organizing client conferences, attorney meetings, and other special functions
Continuing to communicate with and update the clients throughout the process of their case to help ensure the client has all the correct and relevant information
Setting the tone and pace for all calls, while maintaining a professional attitude and showing empathy and patience when speaking with potential clients
Demonstrating the ability to converse with varying client personalities to collect pertinent details to determine the viability of their claims
Representing attorney(s) by communicating and obtaining information, following up on delegated assignments, and knowing when to act and when to refer matters to the attorney(s)
Maintaining client confidence by keeping client/attorney information confidential
Enhancing the reputation of the department and the organization by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests and exploring opportunities to add value to the position
Translating accurately verbal information into written correspondence
Opening and scanning of mail addressed to the attorney(s)
Filing documents and updating client files
Requirements
Skills/Qualifications:
High School diploma or equivalent
Bachelor’s degree in Legal Studies or related field, or prior experience in a law firm is preferred
Prior experience with medical malpractice and nursing home liability is preferred
Multi-lingual abilities are a plus
Prior experience with Client Management Software (Litify) or the ability to quickly learn new systems
Strong phone, typing, and computer skills are a must
Ability to interact professionally and appropriately with co-workers, clients, attorneys, and others
Must be energetic, well organized, and have the ability to multi-task
Must possess and demonstrate exceptional customer service skills, and the ability to handle situations with tact and diplomacy; experience working in the hospitality or service industry is strongly preferred
Ability to work in a high intensity, high stress environment handling a multitude of duties
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment while accomplishing short-term goals without losing sight and commitment to the longer-term needs of the attorney(s)
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and evaluative skills
Ability to work for multiple people and seamlessly adapt to each management style
