Cornell College, a private undergraduate liberal arts college in Mount Vernon, Iowa, is seeking a Lecturer in English beginning fall 2024. Teaching responsibilities will include introductory film studies and creative writing courses, topics-based first year writing courses, and courses in 19th and/or 20th century literature. We welcome secondary interests in the digital arts and digital humanities as they intersect with creative writing and literature, and interest in the book arts, letterpress printing and publishing. A Doctorate in English preferred. ABD candidates or candidates with a master's degree considered. This position is for one year with the possibility of renewal.

The college encourages interdisciplinary interests among its faculty and the development of teaching strategies that capitalize on our unique academic calendar. Our academic calendar allows us the freedom to take students off-campus without impinging on other course commitments. Our year is divided into eight 3½ week blocks in which students enroll in a single course. Class size is limited to 25 students, and upper-level courses are often smaller. Faculty teach 6 courses during the year with the other 2 blocks reserved for ongoing research projects, course preparations, or travel to academic meetings.
