Learning & Development Specialist

Job Summary

Responsible for development, design, implementation and managing effective training programs that enhance the skills, knowledge, and performance of our employees as well as external affiliates with priority initiatives to:

  • Develop framework to capture organizational knowledge of existing workforce and work with leadership on succession planning.
  • Design and build comprehensive training programs/modules that align with company goals and industry standards, including onboarding, technical knowledge, leadership development, safety training and process training for new and existing employee development.
  • Build, develop and implement programs for talent development.

This role is crucial in fostering a culture of continuous learning and development with the organization.

Essential Functions

  • Gather information and course elements from internal and external sources, subject matter experts (SME) and others as deemed necessary.
  • Develop and design learning material, coordinate, and review content, and incorporate current technology in developing specific eLearning courses.
  • Format, integrate and support the deployment of learning programs including uploading and updating training modules, training assignments, learner notification texts and rules in Learning Management System (LMS).
  • Utilize LMS reporting capabilities and develop custom reports to assist with planning and managing the company’s training and development initiatives.
  • Manage eLearning content from vendors to ensure it is compatible with the LMS.
  • Work with IT, Brand Strategy and subject matter experts (SME) to support eLearning content requirements.
  • Run demos of LMS and provide training to individuals and user groups.
  • Coordinate and conduct webinars using Teams or similar programs and upload recordings into LMS.
  • Facilitate live and recorded learning as needed.
  • Facilitate the development of the company training strategy by collaborating with department leadership to determine learning needs, the best delivery approach and prioritize training initiatives.
  • Work with department managers to develop career growth programs, mentorship and development opportunities for all levels of employees.
  • Work effectively with subject matter experts (SMEs) to create engaging/ challenging training content, using adult learning principles and systematic instructional design that yield a rich, meaningful, and dynamic end-user experience.
  • Conduct training needs assessments through surveys, interviews, and consultations with managers and employees to identify and address skill gaps and development opportunities.
  • Manage training activities to ensure content is up-to-date, audit compliant, and of good quality.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of training programs through assessments, feedback, and performance metrics. Continuously improve programs based on feedback and changing needs.
  • Be responsible for further development and ongoing management of Paycom Learning Management System, including program reporting and audits.
  • Serve as the key point of contact for PROSOCO personnel involved in training content development and/or facilitation.
  • Other duties as assigned to meet corporate and departmental goals.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Sedentary work requiring the employee to occasionally stand, walk, sit, reach with hands or arms, push or pull, lift 20-30 pounds, balance, bend, stoop, kneel or crouch.
  • Talking clearly, communicating effectively, and visual & auditory acuity required.
  • Repetitive use of hands to type or finger objects or controls required.
  • Ability to travel occasionally as required.

WORKING CONDITION & ENVIRONMENT

  • Job operates in a professional office or home office environment.
  • This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, mobile phones, scanners, iPads, and digital cameras.
  • Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
  • Occasional travel as required.

Technology Requirements

  • Computer literate with knowledge of all Microsoft Office Applications.
  • Recent hands-on experience and knowledge of learning management systems.
  • Knowledge of various content authoring software (i.e., Adobe Captivate, Articulate 360).

EDUCATION - CERTIFICATION

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in training, adult education, and/or multimedia training materials development.
  • Certification in training and development (e.g., CPTD, CPLP) is a plus.
  • Experience with a Learning Management System (LMS) as a developer or administrator.
  • Experience with HTML and audio and video editing software preferred.
  • Three to five (3-5) years previous experience preferred.
