Learning & Development Specialist

Summary

As a Learning & Development Specialist at Hummingbird, you will design, deliver, and manage programming, learning experiences, materials, and supporting resources to ensure all team members are prepared to operate in alignment with Hummingbird’s values. You will work closely with the Learning & Development Leader to develop training plans, create content, maintain systems, and deliver training.

Responsibilities

Travel: 2-3 trips per year for training and company events.

Compensation: Beginning at $70,000 per year, based on experience.

Training Program Development

  • Design and implement training and communication plans for assigned internal training initiatives.
  • Support other internal projects by advising project owners on training approaches and available tools.
  • Conduct needs assessments to ensure training programs address specific operational and performance challenges.
  • Define learning and performance objectives in collaboration with key stakeholders.
  • Create and manage schedules for training programs to ensure timely delivery.
  • Monitor and assess the effectiveness of training plans and programs and adjust as needed.

Curriculum Development

  • Develop instructional materials, including manuals, guides, assessments, and multimedia content, to support the training curriculum.
  • Ensure training content is accurate, relevant, and aligned with organizational goals and compliance standards.
  • Ensure that training materials are scalable and aligned with audience needs.
  • Update and maintain training content to reflect changes in technology and organizational practices.
  • Use various instructional design methodologies to create engaging and effective training materials, applying instructional design principles and adult learning theory.
  • Regularly review and update training content to ensure it remains current and relevant to changing industry standards and organizational needs.

LMS Build & Maintenance

  • Create and manage infrastructure in Workday Learning to support training programs.
  • Ensure easy access to reference materials for assigned topics and other education topics as needed.
  • Provide support and coaching to functional owners in creating and managing records and campaigns in Workday Learning.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to the training system.
  • Regularly update the system to incorporate new features and improvements.

Training Delivery

  • Deliver high-quality training experiences through various modalities such as in-person, virtual, and blended learning.
  • Ensure that training sessions are interactive, engaging, and effective in knowledge transfer.
  • Assess participants' proficiency and provide feedback to improve performance.
  • Continuously improve training delivery methods based on participant feedback and training outcomes.
  • Coordinate logistics for training sessions, including scheduling, materials, and technology setup.

Train-the-Trainer

  • Conduct training sessions for trainers and functional SMEs to equip them with the necessary skills and knowledge.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of trainers through assessments and feedback.
  • Develop and maintain a certification process for trainers.
  • Provide ongoing support and coaching to trainers to ensure continuous improvement.
  • Monitor and report on the performance of trainers to ensure consistency and quality in training delivery.

Required & Desired Skills

Required Skills and Experience

  • 2+ years of recent experience in learning and development and curriculum production.
  • Solid understanding of instructional design principles and adult learning theory.
  • Proficiency in developing and delivering training content, including interactive learning experiences and simulations.
  • Ability to develop effective assessment tools and knowledge checks.
  • Experience with learning management systems, particularly Workday Learning.
  • Ability to create scalable training programs and materials.
  • Strong communication and coaching skills.
  • Excellent collaboration skills to work with stakeholders and subject matter experts.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills.

Desired Skills And Experience

  • Experience with Radical Candor programming.
  • Familiarity with Amplifire or other training technologies.
  • Experience in mentorship program development.
  • Ability to adapt training delivery to various learning modalities.
