The Early Childhood Education Lead Teacher fosters a positive learning environment for infants and toddlers, facilitating their development across all domains appropriate to their age and stage. Working collaboratively with the assistant teacher and site team, the Lead Teacher empowers parents as primary influencers in their child's educational journey.
Key Responsibilities
Cultivate an environment of mutual respect, support, competence, and creativity within the Head Start and ECEAP teams.
Provide leadership, mentorship, and guidance to assistant teachers.
Collaborate with site staff to support ongoing recruitment efforts and ensure full program enrollment.
Develop and implement daily classroom schedules and activities aligned with ECEAP standards and program goals.
Create and execute lesson plans that integrate a comprehensive, child-centered curriculum in a multicultural setting, catering to diverse needs including disabilities.
Foster positive interactions with children to enhance individual learning and emotional well-being.
Work with the Assistant Teacher to organize and maintain the classroom and materials to support planned activities.
Regularly communicate respectfully with families, involving them in educational programs and supporting their self-defined goals.
Assist in planning and coordinating family events and meetings, ensuring inclusivity through interpreter services for diverse populations.
Conduct educational planning meetings with each child's family annually, documenting observations and developing personalized learning plans.
Administer standardized screenings and make referrals as necessary within 90 days of enrollment.
Support health habits among children, including handwashing and first aid administration as needed, collaborating with health professionals.
Train and support preschool teaching assistants and recruit community volunteers as needed.
Participate in interdisciplinary planning meetings for children and families, contributing to individual education plans and program coordination efforts.
Engage in ongoing professional development through staff trainings, meetings, and educational opportunities.
Ensure smooth transitions for children and families before and after school hours.
Stay informed about program updates and adhere to organizational policies and procedures.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Equivalent of 12 college quarter credits or current Child Development Associate (CDA) certification with coursework in early childhood development, focusing on infant and toddler development.
First Aid and CPR certification within 90 days of hire.
Food and Beverage Handler's Permit within 30 days of hire.
Completion of a one-step Mantoux tuberculosis (TB) test, or proof of a negative test within the past 12 months.
Preferred Qualifications
Bilingual in English/Spanish.

Physical Demands
Regular tasks include standing, sitting, talking, hearing, and computer use. Occasional lifting of up to 50 lbs may be required.
Salary Range And Benefits
The salary range for this position is $21.44 to $27.18 hourly DOE. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, basic life insurance, 401k enrollment, vacation leave, sick leave accrual, Employee Appreciation Days, and 15 paid holidays annually, along with EAP and mental health benefits.
