The Christian and Missionary Alliance

Lead Pastor - Charles City, Iowa

Bethany Alliance Church in Charles City, Iowa, is actively looking for a Lead Pastor.

Our Values

As a church, we are a loving connected family. Our core values are: Love God.

Love People. Make Disciples. As of late, we are striving to do less and invite more.

Position Purpose

  • Preach the word with strength and conviction. Lead us to worship in Spirit and power.
  • Lead us to be a people passionate about sharing our faith and impacting our community.
  • Call us to faithful stewardship of our time, talent and treasure.
  • Ensure we maintain the unity of faith in the bond of peace.
  • Teach us to be peacemakers.
  • Guide our business practices to be efficient, effective and enhancing ministry impact.
  • Oversee the elders and other leaders expecting us to do the work of the ministry.

The number one priority at this time is helping us recapture a missional focus. We

have not been growing, nor have we been effectively reaching out to impact the

community for some time. Discovering a community need (a fishing hole?) and

then helping us capture a vision for how to “fish” that community impacting spot

is a top priority. We are looking for a community focused, outreach oriented,

outgoing, collaborative leader. We want our pastor to lead us in building bridges

to our community that will carry the weight of gospel impact. We also like to be

team players; we want our pastor to participate in the broader Area, District,

National and International ministries within the Alliance. For example, we

encourage participation in pastoral encouragement groups, District Conference

and events, General Council and Mission trips overseas.

We desire a pastor that will fulfill the roles of: Discipler, Preacher/Teacher,

Leader/Vision, Missions Promoter, Leadership Developer. We desire for our new

pastor to recapture a sense of mission focus. This includes helping us have

confidence in our Sunday worship services, such that we are regularly inviting

friends, neighbors and family to church. We want our pastor to honor our loving

family connections. Although we want to grow, we also want to preserve a sense

of family connectedness that is Christ focused and deeply caring. Our hope is for a

specific targeted outreach ministry that brings true impact. We want to discover a

unique area of service that would help us win people to Jesus and incorporate

them into the life of the church through our service in the community. The role of

the pastor on the leadership, is principally to lead us into effective Kingdom

impact. We desire to grow and see EVERY activity, including meetings, focused on

becoming disciples. The pastor should model being a disciple maker. We want

to be about disciple making through every aspect of church life.
