About Us

We believe in expanding the horizons of education beyond the classroom. Our nonprofit organization partners with the NYC public school system to offer liberating, experiential learning opportunities to over 28,000 students across the five boroughs. Through outdoor adventures and classroom support, we empower students to develop socially, emotionally, and academically.

Role Summary

As an Outdoor Adventures Lead Instructor, you will lead students in various outdoor activities such as hiking, low ropes courses, rock climbing belaying, and team-building exercises. Based in Fishkill, NY, and locations throughout NYC, you'll ensure a safe and engaging learning environment, including overnight stays. You'll also mentor fellow instructors to enhance instructional strategies and student engagement.

Key Responsibilities

Plan and deliver high-quality outdoor education programs, ensuring safety and inclusivity.

Lead hiking and low ropes courses, provide belaying support for rock climbers, and conduct team-building programs.

Support students during overnight stays, ensuring their safety, comfort, and overall experience.

Model effective instructional techniques and provide professional development to enhance teaching practices.

Collaborate with a diverse team and adapt activities to meet student needs effectively.

Qualifications

Passion for working with youth and promoting educational equity.

Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and physical environments.

Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to manage diverse student needs.

Commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging.

Benefits

Previous experience in youth programming preferred but not required.

Three (3) sick days
