Role Summary
As an Outdoor Adventures Lead Instructor, you'll guide students through outdoor adventure courses encompassing hiking, rock climbing, team-building activities, and more. You'll create safe, inclusive, and engaging environments that foster personal growth and teamwork. This role also involves coaching fellow instructors and collaborating closely with our headquarters in Long Island City.
Key Responsibilities
Plan and Lead Outdoor Adventures: Design and execute educational and outdoor skill lessons, ensuring a safe and fun learning atmosphere. Adapt activities to meet the needs of diverse student groups.
Support Student Experiences: Provide logistical support during overnight programs, facilitate rock climbing sessions, and oversee student safety and well-being throughout their outdoor journeys.
Model Excellence: Demonstrate effective teaching strategies and mentor fellow instructors to enhance instructional quality and student engagement.
Qualifications
Passion for working youth and fostering educational equity.
Ability to handle physical demands including carrying up to 50 pounds over uneven terrain.
Comfort working outdoors in various weather conditions and supporting students with diverse needs.
Commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and anti-racism efforts.
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment.
