Lead Associate, Knowledge Management & Communications (P2)

Summary

The Lead Associate, Knowledge Management (KM) & Communications provides KM and communications support to the following awards under the Department of Hunger and Livelihoods: Resilience Evaluation, Analysis and Learning (REAL), Implementer-Led Evaluation and Learning (IMPEL), Program Cycle Support (PCS), Gender and Youth Activity (GAYA), Humanitarian Assistance Evidence Cycle (HAEC), and Climate Adaptation Learning Activity (CALA).. Support will focus largely on publication production and copyediting/formatting of program documents, event planning and implementation, and internal documentation and communication. In this role, you will help establish and drive documentation and learning for the six associate awards listed above and other awards as assigned.

What You’ll Be Doing (Essential Duties)

Knowledge Management, Communication, and Documentation

Responsibilities

Provide knowledge management, communication, and documentation technical assistance to the aforementioned awards as assigned. This is likely to include, but not limited to, the following activities/responsibilities:

  • Support overall development of knowledge products (including events, e-learning, publications, etc.) – from concept to completion, including advising on appropriate formats depending on audience and learning objectives.
  • Copyedit and/or proofread reports and briefs of varying scopes, from two-pagers to 300+ pages.
  • Design and format reports, briefs, posters, flyers, and other materials that help audiences digest and understand the content, using Word or InDesign, mostly following existing templates but also developing new designs, following respective award’s branding/marking plan and style guide.
  • Support production and design of PowerPoint presentations and other event materials.
  • Work with graphic designers as needed to produce reports, briefs, infographics, and other materials.
  • Ensure all products follow relevant branding and marking plans, are 508 compliant, and uploaded to the USAID Development Experience Clearinghouse according to regulations.
  • Support internal communication and documentation systems using SharePoint and Teams.
  • Support socialization of award products towards different audiences through outreach efforts and events.
  • Support planning and implementation of online meetings and events, including but not limited to: creating a timeline for each event, setting up the online platform, registration management, preparing and disseminating communications to participants, coordinating speakers and event support staff (facilitators and note takers), producing meeting materials, preparing facilitation guides, running and moderating events, and post-event tasks.
  • Support the production of high-quality e-courses, including but not limited to: collaborating with instructional designers (consultants) and subject matter experts to produce learning modules; lead meetings, manage assets, and coordinate tasks to keep production on time; and coordinate with our learning management system (Kaya) on course reviews and publication.
  • Write copy for event registration pages, website landing pages, and newsletter blurbs. Assist in reviewing, formatting, and disseminating post-event documents and resources.
  • Support other associate award communications and knowledge management activities as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent, plus at least 3 years of relevant experience
  • Demonstrated experience in publication production, copyediting, and formatting of program documents.
  • Proven ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Willing and able to travel domestically and internationally up to 10%
  • Demonstrated experience of working in Microsoft Word and Adobe InDesign.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrated skills in e-learning production
  • Demonstrated experience in international development topics, including food security programming, program design, and resilience/disaster risk reduction.
  • Professional fluency in French.
  • Knowledge of USAID marking and branding guidance, and/or experience overseeing KM and communications activities for a USAID-funded project.
  • Demonstrated skills using online collaboration and e-learning platforms such as Zoom, MS Teams, Miro, and Rise

Compensation

Save the Children is offering the following salary ranges for this position, dependent on candidate location:

  • Geo 1 - NY Metro, DC, and other locations with labor costs significantly above national average: Target Salary for this position is $66,300 – $74,100 base salary
  • Geo 2 - Locations around the US National Labor Cost Average: Target Salary for this position is $60,350 – $67,450 base salary
  • Geo 3 - Locations significantly below the US National Labor Cost Average: Target Salary for this position is $54,400 – $60,800 base salary

The salary ranges listed above are for US based candidates. For candidates located outside of the US, salary ranges will be based on the salary scales of the local employer of record.

Actual base salary may vary based upon, but not limited to, relevant experience, base salary of internal peers, business sector, and geographic location (more information on job structure is available here). Employee may be eligible for an incentive program.
