Job Summary
The Senior Project Developer / Landman role is a full-time position that will lead all aspects of the development process from site/land origination & acquisition to operation. They will often be in the field representing the company with landowners, community associations, county politicians, and project contractors. Their project lifecycle responsibilities include site acquisition, early-stage engineering, local permitting, and environmental permitting; conducting research on various aspects of solar development, including policy, technology, and environmental impacts; and preparing and presenting permit applications at hearings and meetings.
This is a hybrid position with headquarters based in Reston, VA. 50% - 75% travel, primarily within the TVA and PJM territories (PA, NJ, MD, VA, TN, KY, AL, and surrounding areas to start).
Responsibilities
Identify new project opportunities using GIS and database tools.
Meet with landowners to negotiate and secure real property rights.
Assess/document land suitability factors such as slope, wetlands, vegetation, and existing electrical infrastructure on site.
Employ customer relationship management and project management tools.
Positively represent the company through landowner visits, attendance and active participation in community and county meetings, and as the point of contact with contractors and key stakeholders
Coordinate with outside professionals, such as attorneys and engineers, to ensure the completion of all legal and specialized project documents.
Lead the permitting process by liaising with local officials, boards, and key stakeholders and preparing applications.
Manage maps and preliminary site plans with environmental consultants.
Collaborate with our transmission interconnection team.
Address community concerns through local interactions and community engagement.

Knowledge of solar energy systems, local government decision-making processes and GIS (Geographic Information Systems) such as Google Earth and ARC GIS is helpful.
Self-motivated and able to work independently as well as with a team.
Ability to travel 50% of the time (or more), often on short notice.
Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Publisher), GIS, and CRM
Qualifications & Experience
Education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required
Year of Experience: Five+ years of relevant experience to include project development (in a solar and/or renewable energy environment preferred but not necessary) and/or large commercial real estate land acquisition & development.
