Are you a creative and detail-oriented self-starter that likes to solve problems? We are seeking a dynamic and experienced planner to join our Fort Myers office and play a pivotal role in the success of Southwest Florida’s future development and redevelopment.
Our land planners work closely with our clients to understand the nuances and challenges associated with each site to develop unique and feasible solutions balancing private property rights and public regulations to support optimal outcomes. Our planning department is currently engaged in both public and private work, with local government clients and clients in the development community. This position provides a unique chance to influence projects shaping the future of communities throughout Southwest Florida and the State of Florida.
Our Ideal Candidate:
· At least 2 years of professional experience in planning or a related field
· Bachelor’s Degree required
· Master’s Degree a plus
· AICP or ability to get certified
· Proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
· Comfortable learning new software and local planning tools
· Keen attention to detail with a high-level of reading comprehension
· AutoCAD or GIS knowledge a plus
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills
· Well-versed in strategic and current planning issues in Florida
· Working knowledge of local municipalities organization, policies and procedures
· Candidate must possess team-focused work ethic; ability to prioritize multiple tasks; demonstrate an attention to detail while keeping the strategic vision and focus on results; strong desire for continuous improvement; and client satisfaction.
Responsibilities:
· Manage relationships with various local governments and agencies
· Coordinate and assist with data collection and analysis, drafting plans and regulations, rezoning requests, staff reports, and site plan development to meet multiple concurrent deadlines and budgets
· Conduct and/or coordinate meetings and presentations with other team members, applicants, development professionals and reviewing agencies
· Coordinate and track submittals to various public agencies and clients
· Anticipate and creatively solve problems while maintaining big picture outcomes, positive company brand and project timelines
· Complete multiple tasks with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment
