Job Summary The Lactation Consultant is a member of a multidisciplinary team that provides lactation services to the mother/infant dyad. The Lactation Consultant is responsible for lactation education and assistance. This includes: daily breastfeeding classes, one to one lactation assistance, telephone breastfeeding advice and triage as needed to the Lactation Consultant/Coordinator. The Lactation Consultant acts as a breastfeeding resources and advocate for the obstetrical, neonatal and pediatric staffs, lactation students and new mothers. Responsibilities will include sales of needed lactation items and pump rentals at the Citrus Valley Lactation Center. Job Requirements Minimum Education Requirement: High school diploma or equivalent. Certificate of completion from an approved Lactation Educator program. Certification as an IBCLC (International Board Certified Lactation Consultant). Minimum Experience Requirement: Prior in-hospital lactation assistance experience preferred. Bilingual preferred. Excellent customer service skills required Minimum License Requirement: BLS certification. IBCLC required. Delivering world-class health care one patient at a time.
