Laboratory Manager

Agile Premier Andrews, TX

Manages complex laboratory functions and analysis relating to the operations of the West Texas facility. Reports directly to the Facility Manager. May be exposed to radiation within occupational limits.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

 Manages Laboratory employees.

 Periodically review analytical information from all laboratory personnel for technical correctness and compliance.

 Assists the Facility Manager in formulating waste acceptance and characterization guidance.

 Assures that all waste received at the facility is in compliance with permits and the Land Disposal Restrictions Program.

 Advises and consults with interdepartmental management regarding laboratory support including, but not limited to sample identification, waste stabilization, characterization, various chemical analysis, weekly sampling and processing waste.

 Supervises laboratory programs.

 Operates the Analytical Laboratory of the facility.

 Conducts oversight of all analysis performed in conjunction with the Waste Analysis Plan for the facility.

 Secures competent off-site analytical services where necessary.

 Assures all samples of waste or media taken under the Waste Analysis Plan utilize proper protocols and that all laboratory wastes are managed properly.

 Ensures the maintenance of all Laboratory equipment.

 Implements Quality Controls and Quality Assurance programs for the lab.

 Acts as a mentor for all laboratory employees.

 Performs other related work activities as required.


Supervisory Responsibilities

Directly supervises employees in the Laboratory Department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.

Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Education and/or Experience

Bachelor of Science degree(B.S.) in Chemistry, or a related field of study from an accredited college or university and four years of related experience working in a Chemical Analysis Laboratory, including a minimum of two years’ experience supervising Laboratory personnel.


Language Skills

Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and the general public.


Mathematical Skills

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.


Reasoning Ability

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.


Computer Skills

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Database software; Internet software; Inventory software, Project Management software; Word Processing software and Spreadsheet software.
