Lab Technologist II

JOB SUMMARY:

Operates, maintains, repairs, and calibrates a variety of complex research and instructional laboratory equipment in the Chemical And Biomolecular Engineering Unit Operations Lab, machine shop, and research laboratories. Assists with instruction of undergraduate teaching labs. Assists with instruction of graduate students in equipment use. Performs other duties as assigned.

JOB DUTIES:

40% - Essential - Fabrication and Design:

Assists in the design and fabrication of instructional and graduate research projects. Provides technical support for the instructional and research labs.

30% - Essential - Maintenance:

Assists with, maintains, installs and calibrates instructional equipment. Instructs graduate students in the operation of complex laboratory and research equipment. Works independently and supervises student workers in the departmental shop. Coordinates facility and equipment maintenance efforts.

15% - Essential - Consultation:

Recommends for purchase and installs, operates, and maintains complex electronic and electromechanical devices, computer-controlled apparatus (Including data acquisition and processing systems).

15% - Essential - Safety and Training:

Assists with the safety training for all undergraduate and graduate students in the safe operation of the laboratories and processing equipment. Performs routine tests on safety equipment to assure proper operation. Assists in routine lab safety inspections.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Education & Work Experience: A bachelor's degree in a related medical or scientific discipline; or an associate degree or equivalent training in a related medical, scientific or technical discipline and journey-level work experience in a related field.

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:

Work Experience: 3+ years

WORK SCHEDULE:

Compensation Information

Expected Salary Range: ($ 37,860.00 - $ 51,000.00)

Salary is dependent upon several factors including, but not limited to, a candidate's previous experience, knowledge, skills and performance in accordance with Clemson's compensation guidelines.

Essential Personnel Level

Normal Operations

Required to follow emergency facility closure directives, and not normally expected work on-site during emergency situations.
