Key Responsibilities

The Lab Technician is an entry-level support position in the QC department. The Lab Technician assists the Chemists in operating and testing with the assigned laboratory equipment. This position entails strict adherence to company Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), cGMP guidelines, and commitment to upholding environmental, health, and safety standards.

Essential Functions And Detailed Duties

Support Raw Material function by providing sampling for incoming raw materials.

  • Conducts annual review of retained finished package samples.
  • Stores and organizes raw material samples, stability samples and R&D samples.
  • Disposes QC samples as per requirements.
  • Delivers organic solvent to QC Lab.
  • Transfers chemical waste to designated areas.
  • Must be able to complete the following Laboratory Technician tasks:
    • Following established procedures, assist Chemists in operating assigned laboratory equipment including area and equipment prep.
    • Assist the Chemist in routine testing and provide experiment support.
    • Assist the Chemist in equipment cleaning according to machine requirements or SOP.
    • Assist in preparing protocols and reports.
  • Maintain laboratory documentation with details of test procedures and final results in accordance with regulatory guidelines.
  • Properly document activities in lab records, forms, and other GMP documents.
  • Offer suggestions to superiors and follow up on process improvements related to safety, compliance, cost, and productivity.
  • After six months of training, will have basic knowledge of lab methods.
  • Recognize and report any atypical occurrences or discrepancies.
  • Adhere to cGMP’s and Standard Operating Procedures as required.
  • Adhere to all safety and cGMP standards and guidelines, and report unsafe conditions, near misses, and/or injuries in a timely manner.
  • Maintain a clean and sanitary workplace.
  • Be able to perform other duties as assigned.
Skills

Specialized Skills and Knowledge:

  • Basic laboratory skills
  • Basic knowledge of laboratory balance, pH meter and physical testing
  • Good mathematical skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English
  • Must complete departmental SOP, GMP, and any required Qualifications.
  • Ability to work in a team.

Education

Experience and Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or science related field
  • No previous experience required.

Physical Demands/Factors

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand. The employee is frequently required to walk; sit; use hands; talk; and hear. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop; kneel; crouch. The employee must occasionally lift and or move up to 55 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and color vision.
