Lab Technician

Summary

As a Lab Technician, you will be responsible for conducting laboratory tests, experiments, and procedures to support scientific research, quality control, and process improvement in various industries. Your role will involve performing sample preparation, operating laboratory equipment, recording and analyzing data, and maintaining laboratory cleanliness and safety.



Responsibilities

  • Prepare samples, reagents, and solutions according to established protocols or specific instructions.
  • Perform laboratory tests, experiments, and procedures using various techniques and equipment. This may include microscopic examination, chromatography, spectroscopy, immunoassays, and other analytical methods.
  • Record observations, measurements, and test results accurately and promptly.
  • Maintain detailed and organized laboratory records, data sheets, and experiment logs while ensuring data integrity and reliability.
  • Operate and maintain laboratory equipment, instruments, and apparatus. This includes setting up and calibrating equipment, performing routine maintenance, troubleshooting technical issues, and coordinating repairs when necessary.
  • Participate in quality control activities, such as sample testing, data verification, and documentation review. Ensure adherence to quality standards, protocols, and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with scientists, researchers, and other team members to plan and execute laboratory experiments and projects.
  • Maintain inventory of laboratory supplies, reagents, and chemicals. Monitor stock levels, prepare purchase orders, and ensure availability of necessary materials for laboratory activities.
  • Prepare reports, summaries, and presentations of experimental findings.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in such as biology, chemistry, biochemistry, or a related field required.
  • Proficiency in performing laboratory techniques and procedures is essential. This includes experience with sample preparation, handling and measuring chemicals, using laboratory equipment and instruments, and following laboratory protocols and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Strong foundational knowledge in the relevant scientific field, such as biology, chemistry, or biochemistry, is important. This includes understanding basic scientific principles, laboratory terminology, and relevant scientific concepts.
  • Excellent attention to detail to accurately perform experiments, record observations and measurements, and maintain precise documentation.
  • Excellent analytical skills to interpret data, identify trends, and troubleshoot technical issues.
  • Knowledge of laboratory safety protocols and practices is essential to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Effective communication and time management skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and on a team.
