Title: Lab Assistant Internship

Location: Oxnard, CA

Hours: Monday – Thursday (9-hour schedule); Friday (4-hour schedule); OT as required (this position is estimated to last approximately 3 months)

We are currently seeking a Lab Assistant to join our team. In this role, you will play a crucial part in compiling, analyzing, and interpreting lab test results, and performing routine wine chemistry analyses accurately and promptly, in accordance with good lab practices.

What You’ll Do:

• Use a densitometer for measuring specific gravity, brix, and temperature
• Ensure accurate operations of all laboratory equipment/instrumentations
• Perform non-routine and routine analysis utilizing appropriate distillation, titrimetric, colorimetric, and instrumental methods as required
• Operate laboratory instruments such as a refractometer, balances, turbidimeters, and other instruments as required to perform duties
• Execute data collection, analysis, and reporting of analysis on inventory of wines held in the cellar. Accurately report analysis and flag possible issues
• Maintain and calibrate analytical instruments in the laboratory in optimum operating condition
• Troubleshoot when necessary to ensure accurate results
  
  

What You’ll Need to Succeed:

• Degree in Enology, Viticulture, Biology, Chemistry, Fermentation Science, Nutritional Science, Food Science, Microbiology, or a related field, or equivalent experience preferred
• Prior production experience in a wine lab environment is preferred but not required
• Professional verbal and written communication skills
• Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities
• Ability to manage priorities and workflow, with a strong ability to meet deadlines
• Demonstrated reliability and punctuality
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment
• Adherence to all safety regulations and operating procedures
• Politeness, confidence, tact, patience, and diplomacy in dealing with complex and confidential situations
• Excellent communication skills across all levels of the business organization
• Ability to maintain a professional and courteous relationship with all

Compensation:

Salary range between $16.00 - $21.00 per hour – may be eligible for additional, discretionary incentive compensation based on the individual and the company’s performance.

Compensation will be determined by a number of factors including educational background and experience.
