Kitchen Manager/Chef

Our client, located in the heart of Center City Philadelphia, is currently seeking a Kitchen Manager to join their team. As an integral part of the back-of-house operations, the Kitchen Manager will oversee the day-to-day activities of the dedicated kitchen staff, which includes Line Cooks, Prep Cooks, and Dishwashers. In this role, you will assist in developing and refining menu items, ensuring they reflect authentic flavors and traditions.

Responsibilities

• Supervise food preparation and cooking processes and procedures.
• Manage inventory, ensuring all ingredients are in stock, creating order lists, and adjusting them based on sales.
• Develop, maintain, and communicate schedules for kitchen staff.
• Organize and sanitize the kitchen and equipment.
• Handle the hiring process for kitchen staff and provide training for efficient onboarding.
• Streamline kitchen processes to maintain quality food and prompt service times.
• Collaborate with the Head Chef to develop and update the restaurant menu.
• Establish regular cleaning standards for the kitchen and enforce staff accountability in maintaining food safety regulations.
• Work with kitchen staff and finances to identify and address areas of food waste.

Qualifications

• Basic Requirements:
  • Previous experience working in kitchen environments.
  • Leadership experience in a culinary setting.
  • ServeSafe certification.
  • Previous experience in Jewish cuisine or working in a delicatessen
• Preferred Requirements:
  • Culinary knowledge.
  • Familiarity with Jewish deli practices.
  • Leadership experience with teams.
  • Experience in planning menus and ordering supplies.
  • Knowledge of kitchen sanitation and safety regulations.
  • Conflict management skills.

Salary Range: The salary for this position starts at $60,000, commensurate with qualifications and experience.
