Key Account Manager / Business Development Manager

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Sales Strategy Development: Developing and implementing sales strategies to expand current business, gain new business, achieve revenue targets, and maximize profitability among 2nd tier key Retail, Food Service, and Co-Manufacturing partners.
  • Key Account Management: Building and maintaining new and existing strong relationships with key 2nd tier Retail accounts, Food Service, and Co-Manufacturers. This involves understanding the customer's business needs, negotiating terms and agreements, and ensuring customer satisfaction at all levels with transparent, clear and timely communication.
  • Market Analysis: Conducting market research and analysis to identify opportunities for growth and to stay abreast of market trends, competitor activities, and consumer preferences. Work with Marketing Director, Customer Marketing Manager, and VP of Sales on opportunity planning/targets.
  • Forecasting & Planning: Collaborating with internal teams such as Marketing, Operations, and Finance to develop accurate sales forecasts and strategic plans to meet sales targets and customer program needs.
  • Promotional Planning: Developing and executing promotional plans and trade marketing activities to drive product visibility, increase sales, and enhance brand awareness. Must be budget conscious staying with allocated spend.
  • Contract Negotiation: Negotiating contracts, pricing, and terms with Retail, Food Service, and Co-Manufacturing partners to secure profitable agreements that align with Company objectives. Collaborate with Finance team on securing pricing that is competitive while aligning with our EBITDA goals.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Working closely with internal cross-functional teams, including Marketing, Finance and Operations to ensure alignment and support for sales initiatives.
  • Performance Monitoring & Reporting: Tracking sales performance against targets, understanding of IRI, Numerator data, analyzing sales data/POS, and preparing regular reports for management review. Identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions as needed. Cross functional with Marketing with data support/needs.
  • Customer Service & Support: Providing excellent customer service and support to address customer inquiries, resolve issues, and ensure a positive customer experience. Transparent and timely communication within 24-48 hours response time.
  • Product Knowledge: Maintaining a deep understanding of Company products, features, benefits, and competitive advantages to effectively communicate value propositions to customers.
  • Travel: Select travel to visit Retail, Food Service, and Co-Manufacturing partners when needed; attend industry events and participate in sales meetings and conferences.

Education & Experience

  • MUST HAVE 5-10 years of sales experience with a Consumer-Packaged Goods organization, preferably with Emerging Brands
  • MUST HAVE Experience calling on Retail customers, Food Service, and Co-Manufacturing Partners
  • MUST HAVE 5-10 years of experience in sales, account management, broker management, and/or related roles within the CPG industry, preferably with Emerging Brands, with a proven track record of success
  • Branded and Private Brand experience is preferred
  • Hungry, independent, diligent, persistence, highly motivated, and driven characteristics
  • Entrepreneurial spirit; used to working in a fast paced, limited resource environment with ability to pivot at a moment’s notice
  • Analytical and strategic thinking abilities with proficiency in data analysis and interpretation
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, marketing, or a related field

The Pay Range for this role is $110,000 - $150,000 + annual performance bonus. Title and salary will be based on our assessment of skills and experience relevant to our needs for the role.

Compensation: From $110,000.00 to $150,000.00 per year
