Position Description

The Vice Principal/Athletic Director works under the direction of the Principal/Superintendent. The Vice Principal/Athletic Director will provide assistance to the Principal/Superintendent for the overall leadership and administration of the building and, as such, assume responsibility for all aspects of the school program, including serving as the coordinator and facilitator of the school - level interscholastic athletic programs. As assigned, the Vice Principal/Athletic Director will use necessary leadership, supervisory and administrative skills to promote the educational development of each student to his/her fullest potential. Use of independent judgment and decision-making is required in matters not having established rules, regulations or policies. This position requires the ability to independently prioritize and organize work, with frequent non-routine situations and interruptions. This is an Administrative position with annual supervisory and evaluation duties.

Essential Job Functions And Responsibilities

The Vice Principal/Athletic Director performs a wide variety of complex and confidential duties in support of all students.

  • Lead and promote educational equity based on the principle that each student receives what is required for them to

achieve success with regard to allocation of resources, opportunity, treatment, and access.

  • Collaborate with teachers, staff, and administration in creating and implementing equitable behavior expectations for students in grades K - 12.
  • Lead administrator in implementation of the Student Code of Conduct in grades K - 12 in a consistent manner.
  • Possess strong academic training and content knowledge, with extensive knowledge and experience demonstrating good instructional practices.
  • Knowledge of Response to Intervention (RTI) Process and strategies, Multi-tiered System of Support (MTSS) and Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS).
  • Maintain a high standard of ethics in all professional relationships, actions and decisions.
  • Practice effective two-way communication with staff, students, parents and the community.
  • Assist in staff supervision and evaluation and provide support which encourages staff growth, development and performance.
  • Attend and participate as required in IEP and 504 meetings for students.
  • Maintain high ethical standards in matters involving confidentiality with student and staff information.
  • Appropriate supervision of students in all areas of the grounds and at all times, including during after school or evening events. Attends all home, and away if necessary, out of school activities as the administrator.
  • Lead administrator in the recruiting, hiring, and annual evaluation of all coaches.
  • Provide leadership and guidance for sports activities and programs. Ensure district follows Federal, State, OSAA, and

league policies.

  • Schedules, plans, and coordinates all practice and game schedules for all sports programs.
  • Assist in the development and management of the building budget within the guidelines established by the Superintendent/Principal. Account for all funds over which he/she has responsibility.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of building policies and procedures to ensure a safe and sanitary building environment.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the Superintendent/Principal.

Attendance Standards

  • Hours of employment will be based on student, building and District needs.
  • Regular and on-time attendance is expected.

Education, Qualifications, And/or Experience

  • Minimum of five years of experience in public education, including teaching or supervision.
  • Master's degree (Education preferred)
  • Valid license or ability to get a valid license in school administration from TSPC.
  • Ability to obtain a valid CPR/First Aid card and be trained in the district approved CPI training program for restraints within the first six (6) months of employment.
  • Ability to take and pass all required trainings required by law and as directed by the District.

The work environment is a combination of a standard office setting including standard office equipment, in a traditional school setting. The noise level in the work environment is usually low to high depending on school or community activities. Supervision of students is performed indoors and outdoors and may include inclement weather. The employee may be exposed to bloodborne pathogens.

Contract Length - 195 days
