About the Role
Our ideal candidate has 2+ years of experience in high end residential design, working knowledge of drafting, space planning, and vendor relations. The Junior Interior Designer will be collaborating in all phases of design from concept through installation and will be working alongside the design team. Applicants must reside in or near our San Francisco office and be able to reliably commute to the office Monday-Friday. The studio works a 9/80 schedule.
Responsibilities:
Design:
Participate and support design team in all phases of multiple design projects from design development, through construction management and installation
Assist with sourcing of furniture, fabrics, fixtures, and finishes in line with client needs, the Senior Designer’s/Principal’s vision and project budget
Develop furniture, fabric, and material studies for in house designers and principal
Enter specifications in Design Manager program
Prepare presentation materials and assist in presenting designs to clients and other consultants
Provide input and help manage scope, scheduling, and budget requirements of each project
Prepare and maintain supporting documents such as finish schedules, specifications, furnishing budgets, product/room matrices, and shop drawings
Participate in weekly design/project reviews with design team
Some travel to and from job sites (~25%); this may sometimes require out-of-state travel
Administration / Project Management:
Organize and manage all in studio sample libraries and documents
Coordinate all incoming and outgoing samples with multiple showrooms and vendors
Request estimates from vendors based on detailed client selections and designer specifications
Generate purchasing documents for review
Assist with gathering of quotes; prepare proposals and review for accuracy; prepare proposal packages for submission to clients
As needed, attend meetings with clients, architects, contractors and vendors; help with scheduling and organization of installations; relay relevant information to design team
Develop long-term relationships with clients, design showrooms and vendors
Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in architecture, interior design or related field
2-4 years experience working in a professional interior design practice, concentration in high-end residential [required]
Proficient in AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop), Revit, Microsoft Office, SketchUp, and Design Manager.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask
Strong verbal, written, and graphic communication skills
Outstanding analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills
Resourceful, self-motivated, enthusiastic team player
Benefits:
From $60,000 - $70,000 per year, commensurate with experience
