Driven by this passion we have been growing year after year, and recently opened our in house design area. This has been rapidly expanding and we are adding the next junior designer to our team.

Responsibilities

As a Junior Designer, at a custom home builder, your responsibilities extend across various phases of the home construction process. Your day-to-day tasks may include:

  • Client Consultation: Meet with clients to understand their preferences, lifestyle, and specific requirements for their custom home.
  • Conceptualization: Develop initial design concepts, considering both aesthetic appeal and functional aspects of the space.
  • Space Planning: Create detailed floor plans, ensuring optimal utilization of space and adhering to local building codes and regulations.
  • Material Selection: Choose appropriate materials for various elements of the home, balancing aesthetics, durability, and budget constraints.
  • 3D Modeling: Utilize design software to create 3D models and renderings, offering clients a realistic visualization of the proposed design.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with clients, site supervisors, vendors, subcontractors, architects, and engineers to ensure design feasibility and address any potential challenges.
  • Cost Estimation: Assist in estimating costs associated with the proposed design, helping clients make informed decisions within their budget.
  • Presentations: Effectively communicate design concepts to clients through presentations, incorporating feedback and revisions as necessary.
  • Documentation: Prepare detailed design documents, including drawings and specifications, to guide the production team during the building phase.
  • Site Visits: Periodically visit construction sites to ensure that the design is being implemented according to the plans and to address any on-site challenges.
  • Trend Research: Stay updated on the latest design trends, materials, and technologies relevant to residential construction.

Overall, your role involves a combination of creativity, technical expertise, and effective communication to bring clients' dream homes to life while ensuring practicality and adherence to industry standards.

Requirements

  • Minimum of AA degree in Interior Design
  • Proficiency in Design/CAD software
    • Chief Architect Premier experience preferred
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills
  • Time Management
  • Extensive knowledge in space planning
  • Ability to manage multiple projects that are in various phases of completion
  • Knowledgeable in construction terminology
    • Preferred but not required
  • Basic understanding of building codes
    • Preferred but not required

  • Reliable personal transportation to drive to job sites

Employment Type: Full Time

Salary: $50,000 - $55,000 Annual
