Junior Accountant, Payroll Support

ARETUM, a leading government contracting company specializing in technology-enabled mission support services, is seeking a highly motivated Junior Accountant to join our Payroll Support team. As a Junior Accountant, you will provide critical support in processing and maintaining accurate payroll records for our employees.

• Applying FASAB standards and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) to analyze, reconcile, and report on intergovernmental transactions; prepare necessary financial schedules related to elimination entries and trading partner discrepancies; and prepare appropriate journal entries that comply with USSGL
• Reviewing payroll accounting transactions prior to posting; prepare payroll accruals; reconcile payroll disbursements from multiple sources to Treasury disbursements; identifying and resolving discrepancies; and preparing any necessary corrections to ensure accurate financial reporting
• Reconciling Fund Balance with Treasury to agency financial reporting, identify discrepancies, document corrective actions, and prepare appropriate journal entries that comply with USSGL

• Bachelor degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
• Prior experience in payroll processing or accounting is a plus
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive payroll information
• Excellent organizational and time management skills
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Proficiency in MS Office applications, especially Excel
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment
