Network Administrator

Job Title: Network Administrator


Primary Duties and Responsibilities

 On-call after hours for support of critical IT issues

 Provide local first level technical support of IT:

o PC hardware and software

o Network connectivity

o Network file server

o Data backup

o Mobile devices

o Email

o Telephones

o User Administration


Education and Experience

 Technical degree in IT networking or equivalent field

 Minimum of 2-years’ experience with IT networking, servers, and desktop systems

 Minimum of 2-years’ experience working in an executive environment


Detailed List of Duties and Responsibilities


 Server / Network Support

o Administer Active Directory Windows servers – hardware and OS, DHCP, Event Logs, Services, etc.

o Administer Windows Server Update Services for security and patch updates for workstations and servers

o Maintain and monitor tape backups and switch out back up tapes for servers

o Produce and maintain system, network, procedural, and end-user documentation


 LAN Support

o Maintain fully functional LAN communications – fiber, cabling, jacks, patch panels

o Install managed LAN Ethernet switches

o Maintain wireless access points and connectivity

o Administer Network printers


 User Support

o Respond to and assist users with hardware, software, and service issues

o Assist users with the use of equipment and applications

o Support for printer, scanner, storage and other peripheral setup and issues

 Outlook Email Administration

o User e-mail local archive maintenance and restoration.

o Creation of user ID’s and ongoing user support.


 User Computers

o PC hardware and software installs, upgrades, and maintenance

o Work with PC hardware vendor field engineers on hardware repair issues

o Assist users from other locations and visitors connect to the LAN to access their email and other services

while on-site.


 Miscellaneous Items

o Support of remote user VPN connectivity

o Maintaining hardware, device, component and part stocks for computers and other electronic devices

o Ensure the proper recycling of obsolete hardware components

o Maintain an ongoing inventory for hardware, software, and licenses

o Ensure that accurate software licensing levels are maintained for the location

o Support of phone, voice mail, and other voice and data communication systems including company cell phones
