Weller Development is currently seeking an Investment Associate that will work on all aspects of transaction and asset-level financial analysis, modeling, due diligence and market research while providing a broad range of support for the firm’s acquisition, development and asset management functions.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities | Include but are not limited to the following:

  • Perform thoughtful and accurate analysis to effectuate the business plans which will be unique to each investment.
  • Keep project-specific economic models up to date.
  • Track project schedules and monitor progress and delays.
  • Prepares underwriting of commercial real estate properties based on historical financial statements, projections, and market standards to determine a projected income, value and loan amount.
  • Prepares investment reports in compliance with company guidelines and investor requirements.
  • Evaluates markets and asset-level risks and opportunities.
  • Provides equity and loan closing coordination including collecting due diligence items, ordering third party reports, coordinating with all parties including borrowers, lenders and legal counsels.
  • Analyzing lease structures and running financial models to support investment thesis.
  • Work with other leaders to develop equity, debt and operating strategies for assets.
  • Manage and justify the overall assumptions and modeling conventions and ensure that major capital, leasing assumptions and market conditions are discussed and reflected in the cash flow projections.
  • Work with management team to define investment signals to refine and expand the investment thesis.
  • Responsible for providing investors and borrowers and internal teams with prompt quality service in a friendly and professional manner.
  • Works with other internal teams, such as development and marketing, to accomplish the above tasks.
  • Other duties as assigned to support the organizational mission.


Education and/or Experience Required |

  • Bachelor’s Degree in related subject matter
  • 2+ years of experience in real estate financial analysis with a developer, capital markets broker, or owner/investor, ideally in hospitality.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Strong quantitative, analytical and computer skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
  • Ability to work on-site within a high-performing team in Bethesda, MD
