Inventory Control & Physical Inventory Manager

Summary

Provides direct report leadership and analysis for the Physical Inventory and Inventory Control teams. This position is responsible for reimagining & innovating the Physical Inventory process to enhance accuracy and create efficiencies.   • Responsible for evaluating overall Physical Inventory & Inventory Control Strategy in partnership with the Finance department leadership team to bring in new and improved practices and processes.
  • Directs assignments and utilizes effective communication to Inventory Control and Physical Inventory Reps ensuring work is completed in a prioritized and in a timely manner
  • Leads Inventory Control and Physical Inventory team on shrink / inventory movement analysis and investigation at the store level.
  • Serves as the 2nd point of contact for escalation on inventory issues from both Physical Inventory and Inventory Control associates.

  • Holds accountability for assigned metrics.
  • Assesses team success through evaluation, rewarding employees, correcting performance, addressing complaints, and resolving problems.
  • Trains and develops employees to achieve efficiency with a continuous process improvement mindset.
  • Provides day to day direction, guidance on prioritization, and directs work of Physical Inventory and Inventory Control associates.
  • Provides inventory analysis and support to analytics, stores, DSMs, and RLPMs through effective research and communication.
  • Effectively works cross-functionally with the buying team to resolve any and all inventory issues.
  • Effectively resolves store inventory issues by utilizing PeopleSoft, Manhattan and other effective problem solving techniques.
  • Assists in the ICG queue and with PI reconciliations/scheduling as needed.
  • Researches and resolves any outstanding issues that were discovered by the analytics, Inventory Control, Physical Inventory or field teams.
  • Initiates Inventory Control reporting to Store Ops, Merchandising, DC, and Loss Prevention. (i.e. weekly shrink reporting, DC Inventory scorecard, adjustment analysis, PI budget reporting, etc.)
  • Provides analysis, development, and fine tuning of improved inventory procedures (IC Operations Manual), policies, and techniques concerning inventory control and physical inventory.
  • Acts as SME of all inventory control and physical inventory tasks and applications.
  • Additional duties and projects as required.


Required Education and/or Experience

Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from a four-year college or university preferred and 5 - 7 years of inventory management in a retail environment, or equivalent combination of education and experience. At least 2 – 4 years in a direct report management/leadership capacity. Experience with inventory control related systems and processes preferred.


Required Computer and/or Technical Skills

Should have basic to intermediate knowledge and abilities with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
