Inventory Control Coordinator

Talascend is currently seeking an Inventory Control Coordinator for a contract to possible direct hire opportunity in Plymouth, MI.

OVERVIEW:

Support inventory and logistics activities for the Powertrain group. This role will follow logistics and inventory control processes and is expected to have extensive knowledge of inventory movements within the facility and handle exceptions, substitutions, allocations, and other special shop and project order issues.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties as assigned.

  • Maintain detailed inventory control (cycle counts).
  • Perform inventory counts including annual and monthly as required by finance function.
  • Check-in, visually inspect and update bill of material when project components are received and coordinate the inspection process including tracking of these components.
  • Track, store and manage test cell and project components inventory in WASP system including setting up new part numbers, sub-assemblies, and assemblies along with researching any discrepancies.
  • Manage project component usage and assembly serialization in WASP system.
  • Ensure the accuracy of WASP system to reflect real time data.
  • Support prototype builds for projects by picking kits of parts and support sub-assembly activities that utilize a finished good in a bill of material.
  • Receive deliveries, freight shipments and project parts.
  • Ensure detailed and accurate records of all deliveries are kept in accordance with established processes.
  • Coordinate inwards goods delivery and pickup while keeping accurate records of the same.
  • Coordinate packing and shipping of outgoing materials, including organizing shippers/couriers for pickup.
  • Ensure that all new shipping out requests are answered promptly.
  • Maintain a clean and organized inventory storage area.
  • Monitor test cell components requirements, including fuel, gases, common fittings and fasteners (including maintaining accurate records on WASP system) to ensure adequate inventory levels and communicate needs with purchasing team to prevent stock-outs.
  • Coordinate with purchasing team to ensure materials are received in the correct quantities and on the dates expected. Expedite shop or project component shortages as required.
  • Help with developing and maintaining the inventory and logistics processes and best practices.
  • Communicate with relevant management team member/s on any inventory concerns.
  • Communicate inventory metrics with Quality/Purchasing on a monthly basis.
  • Promote continuous improvement in all aspects of the job.
  • Within the position’s scope, contribute to completion of departmental objectives (technical, financial, quality).
  • Maintain awareness of, and meet, the requirements of the Company Quality System.
  • Required to observe all safety rules and regulations. Must act safely and be responsible for the safety of others around work area.
  • Complies with Company policies, procedures, guidelines and standards.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Associates degree with 5+ years experience, preferably in material management or related subject.
  • General automotive and automotive component knowledge.
  • Highly organized with attention to detail.
  • Strong written and oral communications skills and ability to multi-task.
  • Good PC skills: Microsoft Office software (i.e., Word, Excel), and ability to work on other computer programs.
  • Experience with a specific logistics/inventory software preferred.
