The role of the Mechanical Engineering Intern is to support research engineers with projects according to deadlines and within budget while meeting identified objectives. This includes coordinating with others, such as team members, contractors, consultants, and suppliers, to deliver projects according to plan. Extensive guidance is expected.
Principal Duties And Responsibilities (essential Functions)
Functions to be assigned and dependent on business needs.
Work with others to accomplish tasks and projects.
Analyze designs using engineering analysis tools and techniques such as spreadsheets, 3D Modeling, and FEA.
Support projects through assistance to engineers and designers.
Utilize existing DeZURIK engineering tools and update as needed for accuracy.
Participate in prototype development, lab tests, and field installations.
Provide periodic oral and written reports of project status.
Perform all work in a safe manner.
Other tasks as assigned.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Currently attending a Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering Degree program with at least two years completed preferred.
Requires the ability to use 3D modeling software (Solid Works experience preferred) to create and manipulate models, assemblies, and drawings.
Proficient in basic Microsoft tools such as Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
WORK HOURS
Normal working hours are Monday through Friday from 7:30am to 4:30pm.
Adjustments to working hours may be approved by supervisor.
Possibility to transition to a part-time position during the academic year.
EMPLOYMENT DATES
Normally May through July 2024.
Exit date will depend on the Intern’s performance. The minimum expectation is through July 2024 with the potential of working during the academic year.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Physical demands are typical of an office position including extended periods of sitting, and extensive use of a personal computer and telephone.
The physical requirements of the job are related to some testing in the engineering lab, field service activities that can be part of the job assignments, or handling component parts in the plant during a quality inspection.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Normal manufacturing and office environment. When working occasionally in some shop areas, personal protection equipment (PPE) will be recommended and/or required (safety shoes, safety glasses w/side shields, hearing protection, face shield, gloves, apron and boots). Must have the ability to support extended business hours to meet customer business needs.
