Internal Communications Manager, Retail Sales

About the role:

The Internal Communications Manager will be responsible for the day-to-day communication between corporate departments and the field team. In partnership with Sales and other cross functional teams, they will develop and maintain a showroom communication calendar to streamline communication to the field, reinforce company confidence and foster a culture of high performance and engagement amongst the retail field team. They will be responsible for synthesizing, organizing and communicating interdepartmental updates, initiatives and task tracking weekly. They will also act as a point person for the field team to provide feedback to Sales leadership. The ideal candidate is someone with exceptional writing and presentations skills, who is detail oriented, and who excels in corporate communication and storytelling. This role will bring together different partners and synthesize their inter-departmental information on a range of diverse topics, with the goal of improving retail performance and alignment with strategic business objectives

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Planning

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive communications strategy that supports the Field Team with clear and digestible updates from the overall organization
  • Build and manage communications calendar, incorporating weekly, monthly, quarterly updates, balancing priorities and department projects
  • Effectively organize requests/tasks to be completed within stores, ensuring alignment with brand guidelines and strategic objectives
  • Proactively solicit updates from other departments to ensure timely communication with Field Team.
  • Understand business priorities and store team capacities, and strategically prioritize messages that have the most impact on customer experience and sales performance

Communication

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for all store communication needs and inquiries.
  • Compile, create and distribute all departmental updates to the Field Team, including news, general information, launches and other sales focused messaging
  • Condense extensive information into concise and easily understandable updates.
  • Ensure written and verbal messaging reflect the brand image, vision and values and upholds our Pillars of Culture. Foster a culture of retail excellence and brand advocacy through engaging communication.
  • Gather feedback from field teams on a regular cadence, organize and triangulate multiple sources of feedback into actionable insights for leaders in sales and across the business.

Tracking & Reporting

  • Coordinate with showroom teams to ensure timely completion of projects, campaigns, or initiatives.
  • Leverage data and insights to measure communications impact and inform future strategies
  • Monitor and track store communication effectiveness and provide regular reports and updates to leadership.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Stay informed on industry trends and competitive landscape to recommend innovative communication strategies.
  • Assist with special projects as needed including new store openings, store events and channel meetings
  • Coordinate and execute sales and event initiatives in showroom locations.
  • In partnership with sales leadership develop, maintain, track and report on showroom contests to support the overall sales team priorities

Specific qualifications:

  • 5+ years experience leading Internal Communications in a high-growth, retail organization
  • 4+ years project coordination experience
  • 6+ years experience in a retail organization, store and sales management experience preferred
  • Experience with Salesforce, Communication and Task Management systems (i.e. Asana) preferred
  • Proficient at utilizing Microsoft Office and O365 software, including Sharepoint, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook
  • Detail oriented with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Highly organized with focus on execution, problem solving, and improving processes
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to develop and execute strategic initiatives to drive business growth and operational excellence.
  • Self-starter with a proactive and entrepreneurial spirit, able to thrive in a fast-paced, startup environment while maintaining a focus on details and achieving goals.
  • Possesses strong problem-solving skills, approaching challenges with a positive and innovative mindset to drive solutions.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills. Ability to effectively communicate at all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to present information and ideas clearly to executive leaders, field teams, and cross functional partners.
  • A true passion for helping people, creating positive customer experiences and innovating.
  • Ability to build and maintain good rapport with internal and external customers and handle situations with confidence, tact and resourcefulness
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • Provide a high level of service while simultaneously managing multiple projects and tasks for a variety of situations
  • Understanding, acceptance and active leadership practice of diversity, equity, inclusion and workplace belonging concepts

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, or other related field preferred
