O'Melveny has an immediate opening for an Internal Communications Manager. This role can be based in our New York, Washington DC, Los Angeles, or San Francisco office. This position will be a key member of the Client Development Department and will be responsible for supporting the Director of Global Communications in the design and implementation of the firm’s internal communications programs.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Together with the Director of Global Communications and other senior team members, spearhead internal communications activities and projects for the firm, including firmwide executive communications.
  • Conceptualize, compose, and edit communications in support of various regional and firmwide initiatives across the firm’s global operations.
  • Partner with our Talent Development, DE&I and other professional teams to deliver on communications related to signature O’Melveny initiatives (e.g., wellbeing programs).
  • Lead and execute new internal communications campaigns and projects.
  • Draft speeches, talking points, and related materials for internal events (e.g., town halls, partner meetings) in collaboration with key stakeholders, and drive preparation for presentations and internal events.
  • Manage, create, and promote internal communications through the firm's digital channels including advising on and drafting content for the firm’s intranet and social media.
  • Supervise communications writing and editing resources in support of internal communication projects.
  • Review, recommend and – in partnership with other senior team members – pursue opportunities to refine internal communication processes.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as needed.

Knowledge, Skills And Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree is required.
  • At least 7-10 years of relevant experience in a communications or marketing role at a law firm, public relations/communications firm, or in another professional services environment (e.g., private equity firm, consulting firm).
  • Experience in employee engagement and internal communications strategies, ideally gained in the legal or professional services sectors.
  • Superb writing and editing skills and a proven ability to tailor content to achieve distinct objectives and engage target audiences.
  • Must have exceptional organizational, interpersonal, and project management skills, and superior attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage and execute multi-level projects simultaneously and work collaboratively across teams and offices.
