Intern, Research and Development

Tenet3® Dayton, OH

Tenet3 is looking for mathematics, statistics, computer science, computer engineering, and electrical engineering undergraduate and graduate students for internships to support our scientists and engineers. In this position, you will apply a mix of software engineering, data science, knowledge engineering, and/or electronic and microelectronic systems assessment to contribute to our portfolio of systems security engineering projects.

Tenet3 Research Interns engage in a variety of highly technical activities. Our past interns have:

  • Developed custom test hardware to capture data from internal automotive networks
  • Created computer network labs for defensive and offensive testing
  • Created machine learning models to make predictions from data
  • Reverse engineered public safety cameras
  • Built web services to capture structured knowledge
  • Explored and exploited large heterogeneous data sets
  • Created novel web applications using advanced javascript frameworks (in use by Facebook and Google).
  • Reverse engineered the embedded operating system of an industrial robotic training system to enable remote attack
  • Developed custom compiler tools for securing embedded devices
  • Written study systems as designed, as built, and as operating as part of our cyber physical system analysis.
  • Participated in demonstrations to clients

This work has had a noteworthy impact on the company.

Essential Job Duties

As a Tenet3 intern you will:

  • Explore new research and development employed by both government and commercial entities for cyber security analysis
  • Provide design input and develop solution concepts for commercial and government projects
  • Document your work with internal website and source code repository tools
  • Apply technical writing skills in order to effectively communicate your capabilities
  • Participate in weekly internal peer and management reviews with presentations of the accomplishments/explorations of your projects
  • You will work 30 hrs+ per week.

Skills/Qualifications

  • Eligibility to establish and maintain a Department of Defense Top Secret security clearance. (Must be US Citizen)
  • Demonstrated ability to learn.
  • Demonstrated self-learning capabilities.
  • Deep interest in computing, electronics, cybersecurity, and/or data science.
  • Working knowledge in 1 or more of: Java, Python, C, C++, R, matlab, Javascript, C#.
  • Ability to work in person in Dayton, OH
  • Within a 1 hour commute of downtown Dayton.

Education/Experience

Must be a full time student. Any major will be considered but our preference is a student of mathematics, statistics, computer science, computer engineering, or electrical engineering. Minimum 3.5 GPA required.

Pay Range

$18.00/hr-$28.00/hr
