Studio GC is an established mid-sized architecture and interior design firm located in the Chicago Loop by the Willis Tower, supporting various markets such as K-12 schools, libraries, municipal projects, and workplace design.


We are seeking a creative, collaborative, client-focused interior designer to develop design solutions to support our clients' goals and coordinate those designs throughout all phases of the project. You will work closely with and be mentored by our talented, dedicated team of designers, project managers, and principals.


Responsibilities:

 

Design Tasks

Investigate, evaluate, and develop client-focused design solutions. Develop various design concepts. Research and select materials. Create finish boards, plans, and 3D renderings. Create and assemble presentation drawings and other materials.

Gather, compare, and evaluate pricing, specs, and lead times for FF&E materials. Present ideas to clients and team members. Participate in office-wide design charettes.


Tech Tasks

Create detailed CD sets as directed to bring our designs to life and follow SGC drawing standards. Coordinate work with consultants.


Bidding/CA Tasks

Participate in the submittal review process, including logging, reviewing, and approving project submittals. Participate in punch lists and project closeout activities of assigned projects.


Programming/Existing Conditions Tasks

Work with design leadership on developing and implementing programming activities, such as creating vision boards. Collect and record programming data. Conduct and document existing conditions field surveys and create existing conditions Revit models.


Business Development Tasks

Assists in the preparation of marketing and RFP/RFQ materials. Participate in business development events as required.


People Management/ Mentoring Tasks

Mentor junior staff. Occasionally oversee the work of other team members.


Other Tasks

Complete timesheets each week. Attend and participate in monthly design charettes, all-office meetings, project meetings, and Principal/PM Office Hours.


Requirements:

 

·       3 or more years of relevant experience.

·       Bachelor or Master of Interior Design from an accredited university.

·       Collaborate, positive, fun team player.

·       Proactive communicator with strong verbal and written communication skills.

·       Proven proficiency to successfully own and complete moderately complex design assignments with minimal or no supervision.

·       Proven success at meeting project deadlines while working on multiple projects.

·       Working knowledge of building codes and standard construction methods.

·       NCIDQ certification is preferred but not required.

·       Proficiency in Revit required.

·       Proficiency in MS Office including Word, Excel and Outlook required.

  Working knowledge of Photoshop, Illustrator, and lnDesign preferred.
