Qualified Medication Aide (QMA) assists the nursing staff and administers residents’ medications. Maintains frequent contact with co-workers, other departments, residents, doctors, case managers, and members of the public to coordinate operations and exchange information.

Ability to provide public access to or maintain department information and records confidentiality according to state requirements.Ability to occasionally work extended hours.

Qualified Medication Aide (QMA) assists the nursing staff and administers residents’ medications. Maintains frequent contact with co-workers, other departments, residents, doctors, case managers, and members of the public to coordinate operations and exchange information.
Essential Functions
- Prepares and administers medications, including nasal, ear, and eye drops, topical treatments and dressings, and rectal/vaginal medications. Verifies medical charts match doctors’ orders and charts all medications administered to and/or refused by residents, including time administered and amount. Notes behavior/ condition of resident.
- Monitors residents’ vitals, including temperature, blood pressure, pulse, intake and output of fluids, and weight.
- Collects specimens, such as urine and stool specimens, for lab work for pick up per facility protocol.
- Performs accuchecks tests as directed.
- Interacts with residents on a one-on-one basis and listens to their concerns or problems
