Instructor - School of Education

McKendree University seeks an Instructor (non-tenure track) in the School of Education to teach methodology courses in science, social science, physical education, and/or the arts in our Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT), Paraprofessional, and undergraduate programs. As an Instructor in the School of Education, you will play a vital role in preparing future educators. The ideal candidate will bring a passion for teaching, a deep understanding of educational methodologies, and a strong background as a K-12 teacher.

Responsibilities

• Design and deliver engaging curriculum for methodology courses in various subject areas, including but not limited to science, social science, physical education, and the arts
• Facilitate meaningful classroom discussions, group activities, and hands-on teaching experiences to develop students' pedagogical skills
• Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment that promotes critical thinking, creativity, and effective teaching strategies
• Provide constructive feedback, guidance, and mentorship to aspiring educators to enhance their teaching skills
• Stay current with best practices in K-12 education and adapt instructional methods accordingly
• Supervise students in the field during student teaching
  
  

Qualifications

• Master's or doctorate in Education or a related field. (Doctorate preferred)
• Minimum of 3 years of K-12 teaching experience in a public or private school setting
• A strong understanding of various teaching methodologies across different subject areas
• Excellent communication and presentation skills
• Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in education
• Familiarity with educational technology and its integration into the curriculum
• Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and contribute to a positive academic community
• A passion for teaching and a dedication to shaping the next generation of educators
  
  

Familiarity with working in the Brightspace Learning Management System (or similar) is desired. Day/night-time and/or online availability is preferred.
