Job Title Instructor - Part Time (Nursing Theory-Classroom Applicant Pool)


Job Summary


Classroom theory Instructor for associate degree in applied sciences (RN), LPN to RN, or practical nursing (PN) programs dependent upon need.


Job Duties


Classroom teaching of Medical Surgical, Maternal Child (Obstetrics, Pediatrics), or Psychiatric Mental Health nursing content (dependent upon need for specialty faculty in the program).


Adjunct faculty duties per Faculty Forum Contract (C-1).


Required Qualifications


  • Master’s Degree in Nursing.
  • Current State of Michigan Registered Nurse unencumbered license.
  • MEDICAL SURGICAL NURSING : Requires 1 year of Med/Surg. Nursing teaching experience within the last 3 years. Requires 2 years of Med/Surg. Nursing clinical experience within the last 5 years, including EMR and computer competency.
  • MATERNAL / CHILD NURSING -OB: Requires 1 year of Obstetrics Nursing teaching experience within the last 3 years. Requires 2 years of Obstetrics Nursing clinical experience within the last 5 years, including EMR and computer competency.
  • MATERNAL / CHILD NURSING - PEDS : Requires 1 year of Pediatrics Nursing teaching experience within the last 3 years. Requires 2 years of Pediatrics Nursing clinical experience within the last 5 years, including EMR and computer competency.
  • PSYCHIATRIC MENTAL HEALTH NURSING : Requires 1 year of Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing teaching experience within the last 3 years. Requires 2 years of Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing clinical experience within the last 5 years, including EMR and computer competency.
  • BlackBoard Learning Management System certified.


Preferred Qualifications


  • Didactic teaching experience in practical or registered nursing pre-licensure programs (teaching at higher education level (s) also considered).
  • Experience with online testing platforms (Example: ExamSoft).
  • Simulation experience.

  • Office Environment: This role may involve being in a stationary position in front of a computer, using a keyboard, mouse (or applicable equipment) and telephone. Communicating and exchanging information with individuals electronically or in person. This role may involve moving objects of up to 10 lbs., and on occasion, up to 25 lbs.
  • Noise Level: The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Salary Per Faculty Contract


Work Hours Approximately 5 hrs. classroom theory per week plus office hour availability. Course may be scheduled in am or afternoon hours.
