The Department of Communication and Media at Lamar University invites applications for a full-time (9-month) non-tenure track Instructor position, with skills in traditional and digital media production, to begin in the fall 2023 semester. The ability to shoot and edit video and experience in media production is required. Experience in such areas as sports broadcasting, Spanish language media, social media publishing, audio / radio / podcast production, and film-related production, including cinematography and sound design, is a plus.
Position Responsibilities
The ability to teach courses in the department including, but not limited to Introduction to Video, Audio/Radio Production, Digital Editing, TV News and TV Field Production. Additional teaching contributions in the department could include Introduction to Mass Communication, Introduction to Broadcasting, or Writing for the Media.
Knowledge of current media trends, including podcasting, online publishing & streaming and mobile journalism.
The ability to teach courses using the Adobe Creative Suite, including Adobe Audition, Premiere Pro and After Effects, on MAC platform.
The ability to teach video field production and TV studio operations.

Minimum Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications (Education & Experience)
A Master’s Degree or higher in Media Production, Communication, or a related field
Related industry experience, with at least 3 years teaching experience at the collegiate level
Key Competencies
Participation in educational organizations such as BEA , SSCA and NCA
Demonstrated excellence in Media Production pedagogy and ability to contribute to curriculum development within the department
Participation in, and guidance of student involvement in, creative work competitions, in such organizations as BEA , SPJ and CBI .
Physical Requirements: Standing for long periods while teaching.
