Position Overview

The Instructor/Assistant Professor of develops and instructs science courses within the Academic Division. This role includes overseeing curriculum, updating instructional materials, and maintaining course outlines and syllabi for all Program courses.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

Develop and teach community college courses.

Collaborate with local, state, and federal health agencies to identify training needs and develop courses and programs accordingly.

Mentor and support adjunct faculty within the division.

Provide individualized instruction to accommodate diverse learning styles and abilities.

Facilitate distance learning courses and prepare instructional materials.

Contribute to curriculum development and maintain updated course outlines and syllabi.

Serve as a student advisor and evaluate student performance.

Monitor and revise degree and certificate programs as necessary.

Engage actively in College and community service activities, including committee participation and professional development.

Manage program grants as applicable and ensure compliance with college policies and regulations.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

Strong communication skills in oral, written, and presentation formats.

Ability to thrive in a multicultural environment and effectively engage with diverse stakeholders.

Willingness to travel periodically, including to remote locations via small aircraft.

Ability to pass a pre-employment background check.

Professional experience in community college teaching.

Demonstrated success in program development and distance education.

Familiarity with rural Alaska and knowledge of North Slope Borough institutions and Iñupiat culture, language, values, and traditions.

Ability to interpret and represent North Slope community values to the College and vice versa, supporting mission.

Education/Certificates/Training

Required: Master's degree in Human Services, Behavioral Science, or related Allied Health discipline. Valid driver's license.

Preferred: Doctorate degree in Human Services, Behavioral Science, or related Allied Health discipline.

Physical Requirements

The role requires sitting, standing, walking, use of hands, reaching, and occasional lifting up to 40 pounds. Vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and depth perception.

Environmental Conditions

Work primarily takes place indoors with moderate noise levels.
