We are a pivotal role in developing and delivering science courses within the Academic Division. Rooted in the Iñupiat ancestral homeland, our institution embraces an "Unapologetically Iñupiaq" ethos, integrating Iñupiaq worldview, values, knowledge, and protocols into our curriculum and daily interactions.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
Develop and teach community college courses, adapting instruction to accommodate diverse learning styles.
Collaborate with local, state, and federal health agencies to identify training needs and develop programs that meet these requirements.
Mentor and support adjunct faculty within the division, ensuring high standards of teaching and student support.
Facilitate distance delivery of courses and maintain updated instructional materials, course outlines, and syllabi.
Serve as a student advisor, evaluating student performance and providing necessary support for their success.
Contribute to curriculum development, participate in College activities, and engage in professional development initiatives.
Administer program grants as applicable, adhering to College policies and regulatory requirements.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively in a multicultural environment.
Proficiency in distance learning methodologies and experience in rural Alaska settings.
Familiarity with Iñupiat culture, language, and traditions, and the ability to represent and interpret these within a higher education context.
Demonstrated expertise in Human Services, Behavioral Science, or a related discipline, with a Master's degree required.
Valid driver's license and ability to travel to remote locations as needed.
Education/Certificates/Training
Master's degree in Human Services, Behavioral Science, or related discipline.
Professional teaching experience at the community college level.
Physical Requirements
Ability to perform essential job functions, including sitting, standing, walking, and occasional lifting up to 40 pounds.
Visual acuity and ability to adjust focus as necessary.
Environmental Conditions
Primarily works indoors in a moderate noise level environment, with accommodations available for individuals with disabilities.
