Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Teaches courses at the undergraduate and graduate level. Courses may include any of the following: General Psychology, Industrial Psychology, Adolescent Psychology, Forensic Psychology, Individual Counseling, Group Counseling, Motivation & Learning, Psychopathology and other courses as needed. Courses are held in the day and the evening.
  • Demonstrates and fosters excellence in teaching and service; values research.
  • Promotes Christian values in teaching methods and interaction with students.
  • Provides time for academic advising of students and maintains regular office hours.
  • Assist with departmental assessment of learning outcomes.
  • Assist with University Preview and promotion of the department.
  • Participates in recruiting top students for Psi Chi membership.
  • Assist with departmental meetings and events.
  • Attends professional development conferences and workshops.
  • Serves on various academic committees as requested.
  • Supports and affirms a culture of distinctive excellence and exceptional service.
  • Attends university events and, required meetings (including weekly Convocation)
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience:

  • Doctoral Degree in Psychology or Counseling
  • Psychology teaching experience at the college level

Language Skills:

  • Ability to effectively present information to various audiences.
  • Skilled and experienced in various modes of classroom delivery.

Interpersonal Skills

  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to relate to students, staff, administration, and faculty.

Technology Skills:

  • Knowledge and use of technology and its applications for the classroom.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Word, and PowerPoint.

Reasoning Ability:

  • Ability to apply principles of Christian belief system to psychology.
  • Ability to deal with various kinds of students and learning modalities.
