To assist the teaching and administration staff in the instruction of Kindergarten students.
Job Summary
Assist teacher with implementation of lesson plans for group and/or individual instruction:
One-on-one instruction
Reading to students
Listening to students read
Monitoring student completion of assignments
Working with small groups in order to reinforce taught skills
Working with individual and/or small groups to review taught material for remediation/extension of instruction
Assisting students in the completion of assignments during the school day
Provide more immediate feedback to students
Assist in incorporating adaptive strategies in the classroom to meet individual student learning styles
Monitor and adjust individual student as well as classroom behavior as it is appropriate
Assist the teacher in the following manner:
Developing learning centers and learning activity packets
Correcting papers
Filing materials
Duplicating and distributing materials to students
Updating bulletin boards
Monitor and supervise children in various settings including lunch, recess and small group learning activities
Perform such other duties as assigned by the building principal of designee
Qualifications
Graduation from high school or the equivalent. Experience with young children preferred.
Possess the ability to work cooperatively with others.
Maturity and ability to deal effectively with students and staff.
Self-motivated with the ability to work independently within the limits of assigned responsibilities.
Understands the importance of and can practice confidentiality.
Demonstrates knowledge of basic academic skills (reading, math, writing, spelling, and appropriate language usage).
Comfortable with following specific rules and regulations as they apply to the discipline procedures of the building.
Physical stamina necessary for occasionally lifting up to 50 lbs.
Receipt of current, favorable clearances including: Pennsylvania State Criminal History (Act 34), Federal Criminal History (FBI – Fingerprinting - Act 114), Pennsylvania Child Abuse (Act 151), and Sexual Misconduct and Abuse Disclosures (Act 168).
Part-time / 5 hours per day / 180 Days per year
Minimum starting salary: $13.25 per hour
