Duties * Investigate complaints to creates reports of findings in order to coordinate with staffs/agencies. * Develop inspection plans to address the question to be answered in order to gather facts. * Prepare formal report of findings citing specific examples to violations, errors and unsound practices in each case * Identify all issues and specific actions needed to correct injustices and eliminate detrimental conditions to protect the best interest of the organization. * Determine root cause of systemic problems to delegate problems to appropriate agencies for corrective actions, and prepares written reports of findings. * Develop recommendations as to the required corrective action or revision in methods and procedures. * Serve as Assistant Inspector General (IG) responsible for conducting assistance inquiries, investigations, and inspections. Requirements Conditions of Employment * Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation. * This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. * Must attend and successfully complete the IG Course. * This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 50% of the time. * Term employment is subject to a one year trial period. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in the job. Specialized experience is defined as: Responding to allegations of misconduct and/or complaints to determine appropriate action, Conducting fact-finding investigations to protect the best interests of an agency or individual, Preparing inspection reports related to non-compliance to recommend corrective actions, OR Assisting in the development of inspection plans to collect data for the unique aspects of the organization. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the Federal service (GS-09).
