Datassential is a global food and beverage intelligence platform. By embracing billions of data points and AI, we offer a suite of innovative solutions that empower over 90% of the largest global brands in the food & beverage ecosystem to more effectively develop, market, and sell their products.

Datassential, headquartered in Chicago, USA, has gained momentum in global markets through its acquisition of CHD Expert (HQ: France) in 2022. Datassential is backed by Spectrum Equity, the same top-tier PE firm that backed GrubHub, bitly, and Headspace.

We are a remote-first company with opportunities for in-person team and company-based events. Our global team celebrates diverse backgrounds and new perspectives while cultivating expertise in all things food and beverage. Food brings people together, and there's room for everyone at Datassential's table.

Who you are:

  • You are passionate and love thinking about restaurants, food and beverages, and trends impacting restaurants.
  • You find the business of food/beverage and food service interesting
  • You love and have a background in research and writing
  • You understand how to combine quantitative and secondary research to provide insights and tell a story
  • You prefer the dynamic of a smaller company

Why you should join:

We are a small but mighty team with varied personalities and deep respect for one another. In this role you will grow your career while maintaining that work-life balance our team values immensely. You will work with industry-standard tools, advance your writing & project management skills, and even have the chance to be interviewed and quoted in top media outlets. We let people take risks (if they sound fun!) and you'll be joining a company that prioritizes your personal growth along with your professional growth.

What you will do:

We are looking for a full-time Insights Analyst to join our Content/Publications Team. You will be responsible for contributing to our extensive line of market research publications covering the food/beverage industry.

The process starts with writing questionnaires for consumers and food service operators using secondary research and knowledge of the industry. That data is then analyzed in Excel and used to create impactful reports in PPT that tell a story and empower our clients to make smarter business decisions.

We are looking for someone who loves to not only interpret data and what it says but also uncover what the data means and why it matters for our industry.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Questionnaire development and field management:
  • Writing surveys that address specific strategic objectives (using both traditional and proprietary methodologies)
  • Overseeing survey programming and testing to ensure proper data collection
  • Data analysis, reporting, and presentation development:
  • Determining the right analytical methodology suited to different research objectives
  • Presentation of data in visually intuitive and creative ways
  • Culling insights, key findings, and strategic recommendations from the data
  • Summarize results and prepare reports in PowerPoint

Other responsibilities:

  • Copy editing of peer-created reports and publications
  • Provide comments on findings to media outlets (mostly written though interviews are possible too)
  • Opportunities exist for presenting findings on webinars or at in-person speaking engagements
  • Learn Datassential's proprietary Syndicated databases to support findings and provide a complete picture of a trend
  • Learn the food and beverage industry and understand trend development

Requirements

  • 2+ years of market research or data insights experience or related experience in an analytical role
  • BA/BS in Marketing, Business, Psychology, Economics, Marketing Research, Communication, Journalism, or another related field or equivalent experience
  • Experience or demonstrated interest in restaurants and food service
  • Ability to take large amounts of content/data and condense it down to base story and key points
  • Strong analytical capabilities and an aptitude for statistics or numbers
  • Intermediate knowledge of PowerPoint and Excel
  • Advanced written communication skills, with an eye for grammar and editing
  • Attention to detail

Nice to have:

  • Familiarity with G-Suite
  • Working knowledge of Dynata survey management software (MarketSight, CMIX, etc.)
  • Advanced presentation skills and experience or interest in public speaking

Benefits

  • Competitive salary and annual bonus eligibility
  • Affordable Medical, Dental, and Vision Insurance, including a no cost employee-only plan
  • 401K with dollar-for-dollar company match up to 5%
  • Unlimited PTO, recharge days, and Christmas through New Year break
  • Remote Stipend (non-Chicago residents)
  • Wellness Reimbursement or HQ Gym access

Our Table Welcomes All. We embrace diversity of both background and thought and foster an inclusive environment that extends an open landscape of opportunities to everyone. We invite each of us to simply be ourselves. We operate with respect and without judgment, celebrating both the power of the individual as well as our shared humanity.

The pay range for this role is $50,000- $62,000/ year. Actual compensation within the pay range will be decided based on factors including, but not limited to, skills, prior relevant experience, and specific work location.
