We are currently seeking an experienced Inpatient Medical Coder to join our team on a 3-month contract basis, with the potential for extension. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will play a crucial role in ensuring accurate coding and compliance within our dynamic healthcare environment.
Key Responsibilities
Reviewing patient medical records to accurately assign diagnostic and procedural codes in accordance with ICD-10-CM and CPT guidelines.
Ensuring coding compliance with federal regulations and organizational policies.
Collaborating effectively with healthcare providers and staff to clarify documentation and resolve coding discrepancies.
Meeting productivity and accuracy standards established by the department.
Participating actively in coding audits and quality improvement initiatives as required.
Requirements
Minimum of three years of experience in inpatient medical coding.
Proficiency in assigning ICD-10-CM diagnosis codes and CPT procedure codes.
Experience specifically in day surgery, observation, and injection and infusion coding.
Certification as a Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) is preferred.
Strong attention to detail and analytical skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
Must be located in Texas; onsite work is preferred.
