Job Description

The Server is responsible for coordinating entire table service for guests and communicating with front and back of house personnel to provide a world class dining experience that exceeds guest expectations. Servers will deliver gracious hospitality and ensure all guests receive friendly, courteous and prompt service at all times following prescribed and established Biltmore service standards.

Essential Job Duties

Guest Service

  • Take guests' food and beverage orders, utilizing suggestive selling techniques.
  • Input order into system and ensure transmission of food orders is verified by Kitchen.
  • Retrieve all alcoholic beverage items from service bar/wine station and serve to guest.
  • Open and serve wine/champagne bottles.
  • Serve food courses and beverage items to the guest according to established standards.
  • Ensure that each guests has appropriate silverware for each course and glassware for beverages ordered.
  • Clear each course, remove soiled wares from tables, transport to dishwashing area.
  • Present guest checks and process payments according to established procedures.
  • Anticipate guests’ needs, respond promptly and maintain positive guest relations at all times.
  • Resolve guest complaints, ensuring guest satisfaction.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Adhere to all self-banking, cash and guest check handling procedures, sales and tip reporting policies.
  • Attend staff meetings, menu and wine tastings as scheduled. Satisfactorily complete menu, wine and standards tests.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma.
  • Previous serving experience in a full-service restaurant required. The ideal candidate will have had at least six (6) months of related restaurant experience in a fine dining/upscale setting, preferably in a multi-unit, luxury hotel/resort.
  • Demonstrated commitment to delivering world class guest service and anticipating and exceeding guest expectations.
  • Excellent guest relation and communications skills are a must; should be comfortable and able to offer warm, sincere, and gracious hospitality to guests.
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills and the ability to handle a variety of guest service situations in a manner consistent with Biltmore standards.
  • Terrific attention to details.
  • Ability to and comfort with using listening skills and suggestive selling techniques to help meet the dining needs of guests.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize in a fast-paced, guest service environment.
  • Must be able to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to be proactive, exercise good judgment, and take initiative as appropriate. Should be able to creatively problem solve.
  • Ability to be professional in both appearance and demeanor in accordance with Biltmore standards.
