Information Technology Manager

Nabsys is the pioneer in high-definition electronic genome mapping. Headquartered in Providence, RI, Nabsys uses proprietary electronic nanodetectors to analyze long DNA molecules traveling at high velocity. Our first-generation instrument and consumables have been shipping to customers for a year. We are currently scaling proven technology to substantially reduce cost and time-to-answer, on our way to making genomic structural information available to every laboratory.

Title: IT Manager

Nature of Role:

We are seeking an experienced and versatile hands-on IT Manager to join our team. Nabsys has grown to 50 full-time employees, both on-site in Providence, RI, and remote. As we transition from using IT consulting services to having a dedicated full-time IT department, the IT Manager will play a crucial role.

The IT Manager will be responsible for providing comprehensive IT services, establishing best practices, maintaining and expanding our on-premises high-performance computing environment, and managing IT consultants.

This position reports to the Vice President of Software and Informatics.

Responsibilities:

• Manage, maintain, document and expand our on-premises IT architecture including:
• Infrastructure servers, high performance computer servers, NAS
• Domain policies
• Firewall
• Backup plans
• Manage, maintain and expand our cloud environment
• AWS
• Secure S3 storage used by Nabsys Early Access customers
• Google Cloud
• Create VM environment to provide additional HPC capacity for Nabsys internal users
• Work with our Google partner to migrate a Nabsys on-premises application to a GCP cloud application
• Manage interactions with our IT consultants
• IT diligence audits
• Act as primary contact
• Implement any required changes to achieve compliance
• Support Nabsys internal users
• Address support issues
• Formalize and execute IT onboarding and off-boarding procedures
• Employee computer management
• Where possible, establish standard employee computer hardware configurations. We operate in a mixed Mac and PC environment. Some users will require non-standard hardware.
• Order and setup employee computers
• Track and maintain employee computers
• Software management
• Administer cloud-based applications
• Maintain inventory of software licenses and licensed users
• Maintain list of software subscriptions and maintenance agreements
• Manage volume licenses
• Order and configure new software
• Produce budgets and optimize cost efficiency
• Commercial team support
• Manage TeamViewer for customer support
• Nabsys OEM computer support
• Configure OhmX System Controller PCs prior to shipment
• Track and utilize hardware warranties for repairs

Requirements:

• On-site role, Providence, RI
• Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited four-year college or university
• 5+ years of relevant experience
• Experience designing and maintaining a high performance compute environment
• Strong interpersonal skills with ability to effectively work in a team environment and build strong relationships
• Ability to work well with others in fast paced, dynamic environment, execute under deadline pressures and with multiple priorities, and/or multiple complex situations daily
• Ability to be respectful, approachable and team oriented while building strong working relationships and a positive work environment yet have the ability to be aggressive in execution and undaunted by challenges
