NHS Shetland is looking for an individual to lead on its strategic and operational information services requirements. This team sits within the Public Health Directorate, in the Planning, Performance and Projects Department and provides support across the organisation.

NHS Shetland utilises extensive clinical and business management information systems to safely and effectively deliver services. Ensuring that data quality is maintained and all information is securely managed is key to delivery. The effective management and analysis of NHS Shetland’s data is a vital component of this transformation and the successful candidate will play a key role in transforming the use of information to shape and improve services and ensure services are sustainable

Applications are invited from individuals with experience in providing analysis, reporting and management of healthcare information assets. Candidates will also have experience in managing staff and overseeing a busy team.

This is an exciting time as NHS Shetland has recently implemented Hospital Electronic Prescribing and Medicines Administration (HEPMA) and will soon replace it’s GP Information Technology Systems. This will be a significant modernisation of digital technology, enabling new ways of delivering healthcare with patient focus and clinical safety at the centre of all we do.

The department is also focused on implementation of multiple other new systems for patient management, integration of technology across the public sector in Shetland, and with other North of Scotland Health Boards.

Rise to the challenge and enjoy the opportunity - Shetland is a wonderful place to live and work. Shetland offers low pollution, low crime, excellent schools, great leisure facilities, unique wildlife and amazing scenery, whilst still only a short flight away from the UK mainland. To find out more about living and working in Shetland go to www.shetland.org and/or https://www.shetland.org/life

You will be expected to comply with the Induction Standards and Code of Conduct for Healthcare Support Workers within 3 months of commencing your role – details can be viewed on http://www.hcswtoolkit.nes.scot.nhs.uk/resources/hcsw-standards-and-codes/
