Provide leadership & training to all lower level mechanics.
Monitors mechanical devices in operation and listens to their sounds to locate potential problem areas in support of the Preventive Maintenance Program.
Troubleshoot and repair equipment that becomes faulty.
Proficiency in the safe and proper use of tools to accomplish cutting, drilling, grinding, treading, welding, assembling, and other activities performed by the maintenance department.
Proficiency in mechanical procedures of equipment installation.
Knowledge of basic refrigeration principles to include an operating knowledge of start up, defrost, and shut down procedures.
Knowledge of basic boiler and air compressor theory with respect to operation, blowdown and preventive measures.
Sets up and operates lath, drill press, grinders and other metal working tools to make repair parts.
Accomplish all other maintenance related activities as assigned by Maintenance Supervisor and/or Shift Supervisor.
Responsibilities may include training employees; planning, assigning, and participating on the training committee to appraise performance / review relevant course curriculum and resolving problems.
Complies with and participates in plant Accident Prevention Program and lockout program.
Keeps work area neat and orderly.
Participate in plant maintenance training program.
Reports any accidents, unsafe conditions, and/or damage immediately to proper management official.
Performs all other related work as assigned
