Job Summary: Achieves maximum sales profitability, growth and account penetration within assigned markets or accounts by effectively selling the company’s line of industrial hose products. Personally contacts and secures new business accounts/customers.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: The essential duties and responsibilities of this position include the following (other duties may be assigned):

  • Establishes, develops and maintains business relationships with current customers and prospective customers in the assigned territory/market segment to generate new business for the organizations products/services
  • Makes telephone calls and in-person visits and presentations to existing and prospective customers
  • Researches sources for developing prospective customers and for information to determine their potential
  • Develops clear and effective written proposals/quotations for current and prospective customers
  • Expedites the resolution of customer problems and complaints
  • Coordinates sales effort with marketing, sales management, accounting, logistics and technical service groups
  • Analyzes the market’s potential and determines the value of existing and prospective customer’s value to the organization
  • Creates and manages a customer value plan for existing customers highlighting profile, share and value opportunities
  • Identifies advantages and compares organization’s products/services
  • Plans and organizes personal sales strategy by maximizing the Return on Time Investment for the territory/segment
  • Supplies management with oral and written reports on customer needs, problems, interests, competitive activities, and potential for new products and services
  • Keeps abreast of product applications, technical services, market conditions, competitive activities,
  • advertising and promotional trends through the reading of pertinent literature and consulting with marketing and technical service areas
  • Participates in trade shows, open houses, and other promotional type activities

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Education and/or Experience – Associate’s degree from a two-year college or technical school and five to seven years sales experience in industrial environments, or an equivalent combination of both. Preferably with knowledge and expertise in the chemical, petroleum, and food industries. Industrial hose or industry experience preferred
  • Reasoning Ability –Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions in written, oral and diagram form
  • Mathematical Skills –Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions and percentages
  • Language Skills –Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence and to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization
  • Computer Skills –Must have working knowledge of Microsoft Office products and be able to navigate throughout Epicor Profit 21 and Rubber Tree systems
  • Other – Must have a valid driver's license and be willing to travel 80% of the time. Overnight stays may be required.
