The job of Inclusion Preschool Instructor is done for the purpose/s of providing support to the instructional process by serving as a teacher with specific responsibility for supervising preschool students within the classroom and other assigned areas; developing lesson plans and delivering group and individual student instruction within established curriculum guidelines; and responding to a wide range of inquiries from students' parents or guardians regarding the instructional program and student progress.

Essential Functions

  • Adapts classroom work for the purpose of providing students with instructional materials that address individualized learning plans within established lesson plans.
  • Advises parents and/or legal guardians of student progress for the purpose of communicating expectations; student's achievements; and developing methods for improvement and/or reinforcing classroom goals in the home environment.
  • Assesses student progress towards objectives, expectations, and/or goals (e.g. identify children for Child Find, administer assessments 3 times a year for Tier 2 & 3, etc.) for the purpose of providing feedback to students, parents and administration.
  • Collaborates effectively with a variety of parties (e.g. teachers, related servers, instructional coaches, etc.) for the purpose of providing appropriate services to all students as outlined in their IEP.
  • Creates an inviting, attractive, and pleasing environment for the purpose of building a positive school foundation for students and parents.
  • Designs developmentally appropriate instructional materials for the purpose of providing instruction based on established curriculum utilized by the district.
  • Directs instructional assistants, volunteers and/or student workers for the purpose of providing an effective classroom program and addressing the needs of individual students.
  • Facilitates preschool students' learning (e.g. art, science, music, dramatic play, story time, movement activities, etc.) for the purpose of improving the students academic success and transition to elementary school.
  • Maintains classroom equipment and work area (e.g. sanitizing, checking equipment, meet DOH Standards, complete DOH training videos including paras, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring availability of items; providing written reference; providing a safe learning environment; and/or meeting mandated requirements.
  • Manages student behavior for the purpose of providing a safe and optimal learning environment.
  • Models conversation, manners, clean up activities, listening skills, etc. for the purpose of demonstrating appropriate social and interpersonal behavior.
  • Monitors preschool students in a variety of educational environments (e.g. classroom, playground, stories, music, parent meetings, play, etc.) for the purpose of providing a safe and positive learning environment.
  • Organizes age appropriate indoor and outdoor activities for the purpose of ensuring student participation in learning activities.
  • Participates in meetings, workshops, trainings, and seminars (e.g. prepares and participates at Parent Teacher Conferences, etc.) for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required to perform functions.
  • Participates in a variety of meetings including IEP meetings as assigned for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required to perform functions.
  • Prepares a variety of electronic and written materials (e.g. parent website, daily and weekly calendars, student achievement, etc.) for the purpose of documenting student progress, communicating current information, and meeting mandated requirements.
  • Responds to emergency situations for the purpose of resolving immediate safety concerns and/or directing to appropriate personnel for resolution.
  • Responds to inquires from a variety of sources (e.g. other teachers, parents, administrators, etc.) for the purpose of resolving issues, providing information and/or direction.

Experience:

Job related experience with increasing levels of responsibility is desired.

Education

Community college and/or vocational school degree with study in job-related area with an emphasis in early education or a related field or a Child Development Associates license within one-year required.

Requirements

age 16+

High school diploma or equivalent.

Certificates And Licenses

CDA - Child Development Association is preferred upon hire or must obtain within one year of accepting the position
